Being a history student, Indian history always fascinates me,
especially the medieval chapters. Mike was eager to see the temples of
India, that are known for their architecture. With no idea about the
foreign land, we thought that it is better to go for a packaged tour.
As soon as I landed in Delhi, I was happy to see that India still
holds her tradition. The monuments in Delhi are huge, but they did not
interest me much. The real fascination started as we reached Bijapur.
The Gol Gumbaz is impressive! Imagine a large dome that acts as a
natural amplifier and echoes so open-heartedly! Raman, our guide, was
crazy, but he indeed entertained us with many interesting stories
about the Vijayanagar Empire. The archaeological remains of Hampi and
villages of Hospet like Chitradurga and Harihar really made me revert
back and I felt like a time machine brought me to the days of the
emperors. I cannot miss out mentioning the magnificent Konark Sun
Temple, built completely of black granite! Indeed our trip with
Shubhyatra was a success. »
