Tirupati Temple |
Located at the amazing foothills of Tirumala Hills is one of the
most venerated shrines and the richest temple of the world - the Tirupati
temple. The Tirupati, the abode of the Lord Venkateswara is one of the
oldest temples, and was patronised by Pallavas, Cholas, Pandyas and
Vijayanagara kings. One can also find its references in the Sastras, Puranas
and the Sthalamahattyas.
Tirumala is situated at the extreme south east of the south Indian state of
Andhra Pradesh Indian. The seven hill of the Tirumala range, according to
the Puranas, represents the body of the seven serpent - Adisesha Nag on
which Lord Vishnu - protector of the world-reclines. The Tirumala Hill is
3200 ft above sea level, and is about 10.33 sq miles in area. The main
temple is an excellent example of Indian temple architecture. The shrine id
dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Varahaswami. The splendid Vimana
over sanctum sanatorium is plated with gold, as Dhwajasthambam or temple, is
said to be more ancient.
Apart from being one of the most sacred pilgrimage spot in India, the
surroundings of the Tirupati Temple offers a splendid sight that is
luxuriant with natural treasure.
