Uttaranchal is not very affluent as far as monumental heritage is concerned, but there are certainly some temple, and colonial structures that save its name. Uttaranchal tourism promotes various temples structures that have historical importance. The cities that were an important resort during the British province like Dehradun, Nainital and Mussorie, have many colonial monuments as well.

Temples That Have Created the Niche as Historical Monuments

Uttaranchal has been blessed with tremendous temple attractions. In the state where almost every town is sacred and is worshipped for its sanctity, it goes without saying that temples are the main attraction. The most important historical monuments is the accumulation of 160 temple known as Jageshwar temple, located 38 kms from Almora. There is also a sun temple awaiting your visit in Almora. Amidst the main city of Champawat is the historical Baleshwar Temple, which is a fine example of stone architecture, this temple is believed to be built between 10 - 12 century A.D. The Badrinath temple and the Kedarnath temple, one crosses during the Char Dham yatra are also have historical importance. The Baji Nath temple in Kausani is also a famous temple of archaeological and historical importance.
However, to add to the monumental attraction, there is Deogarh Fort in Dhanaulti. Dating back to the 16th century, this fort structure is a very popular edifice comprising a number of striking palaces, ornamented with frescoes, and impressive Jain temples.
