Getting There : Air - The Nearest Airport is Jolly Grant, Dehradun (315 Km).
Rail - The nearest Railhead is at Rishikesh, 270 Km from Joshimath.
Road - Off the Rishikesh-Badrinath road, 17 km from Govindghat, 25 km from Badrinath. From Govindghat the Distance has to be Trekked. Bus services are Available to Govindghat.

The main attraction of this valley lies in the flower full of pastures with clear running streams that are set against the sliver birches and snow clad peaks. Here you should visit a park that is said to be the smallest park in Himalayas, that was primarily created to protect the catchment area of the Pushpavati river. The backdrop from this river, that emerges from a glacier is stunning. The fauna in the national park comprises the snow leopard, musk deer, red fox, common langur, bharal, serow, Himalayan black bear. The flora includes orchids, poppies, primulas, calendulas, daisies and anemones, that carpets the ground.
The best time to visit the Valley of Flowers is during the months of July and August, when the flowers bloom to the maximum.

Trek to Reach the End of the Rainbow – Getting to Valley of Flowers

All good thing come to life at a cost, but for the adventure savvy, reaching Valley of Flowers is more of a delight rather than a strain. All the trekker have a wonderful time. As one needs to indulge in a strenuous 20 km trek to reach this fairy tale land. The trip starts by reaching Rishikesh from Delhi. For logistic reasons everybody seems to pass through Delhi. It is followed by an 11 hrs bus journey from Rishikesh to Joshimath. Then, 1 hr bus ride from Joshimath to Govindghat. Then on one has to indulge in the 14 km trek from Govindghat to Ghangria, along the river Lakshman Ganga. This is the difficult, but also the most enjoyable part of the trip. From the base camp Ghangria, the Valley of Flowers is a 3 km climb, where one has to go daily and come back the same day.
