Hussain Sagar Lake – Shining In The Depth of Nights

A haven for both the old and new generations, Hussain Sagar Lake located at the meeting point of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, is an ideal place for relaxation and recreation. The picturesque lake of Hussain Sagar has contributed immensely to the beauty of the two cities of Andhra Pradesh. A fabulous place for holiday makers and water enthusiasts, Hussain Sagar Lake is a pleasant haunt for evening rendezvous and morning strolls. Built on a tributary of the Musi river by Hussain Shah Wahi during the reign of Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shah in 1562, the lake holds water throughout the year.

Near the lake is a 350 tonne finely sculptured monolithic statue of Lord Buddha in white granite. The 16 meter high Buddha statue on the Rock of Gibraltar stands majestically amidst the soothing calm waters of the lake.

Hussain Sagar has other attractions for lovers of water sports. The yatching and sailing clubs at the lake are open and the annual regatta pulls in a large number of sportspersons and common man alike from all over the country.
