Gol Gumbaz – Pride of Bijapur

The pride of Bijapur (340 kms from Bangalore), Gol Gumbaz is the mausoleum of King Adil Shah who ruled over this town. Having the second largest dome in the world, try to make a little sound in order to hear it back 9 times. This monument is an excellent example of Muslim architecture in India and tourists should further move around to see other marvels of architecture around the Gol Gumbaz.

Karnataka has a plethora of monumental attractions that resides in the world heritage temple ruins of Hampi and Pattadakal. The statue of Gommateshwara at Sharavanbelagola (158 kms from Bangalore), a famous Jain pilgrim destination, is the largest monolithic statue in the world. The Badami caves are the best examples of the rock cut caves in Karnataka.
