Bijapur is a historical city of Karnataka. Though it is not having its own airport, but the tourists can avail the nearest airport of Belgaum (205 kms). Domestic flights like Indian and Jet Airways ply between important cities.
Bijapur has its own rail head which is well connected with Bangalore and other parts of the state. Trains regularly carry passengers from other parts of Karnataka to Bijapur.
As far as reaching Bijapur via rodas is concerned, the main stand in Bijapur is near the southwestern side of the citadel, near the city center. Bus services to Badami (4 hours), Belgaum (5 hours), Gulbarga (4 hours), Bidar (7 hours), Hubli (4½ hours), and Sholapur (2 hours) are frequent. To commute inside the city auto-rickshaws and tongas can be used. Bikes can be taken on rent from the bus stand, on hourly basis.
