The promenade of Mussoorie is the famous Mall that straddles a ridge extending from Cloud's Ends in the west to rock to Rockville (haunted house) in the east. Walk further to enter the cantonment area which is has an ambiance of its own old world. Here you should see the Happy Valley, known for its various municipal gardens and Tibetan School and Home. Though tourists can explore these places on a drive but the best way to enjoy a good walk around and discover the delights. There is also a 400 mts rope way to the popular point of Gun hill.

Feel the Cold at Kempty Falls

One of the most unique attraction in Uttaranchal are the famous Kempty falls at a distance of 18 kms from Mussoorie on the Yamunotri Road. It has the distinction of being the biggest and prettiest waterfall located in a beautiful valley and is surrounded by high mountains. Other waterfalls in close proximity are Jharipani falls (8.5 kms) and Bhatta falls (7 kms). Just 6 kms from Mussoorie is a recently developed picnic spot, where tourists can indulge in pedal boating. It commands an enchanting view of Doon Valley and nearby villages.

Other Attractions to Enjoy During This Weekend in Mussoorie

Lengthen your holiday in Mussoorie and climb the steep road to Lal Tibba and from here enjoy the great views of Bandar Poonch Massif and Gangotri range. Visit the famous Tibetan Buddhist temple and and then move towards the municipal garden to Hathipon. Do not miss enjoying a walk on the Camel's Back Road, a 3 km long stretch from the library to the Kulri Bazaar. Other route best enjoyed while walking are from the northern slopes of Mussoorie to the Algar river. 20 minutes stroll down a bridle path to Gun Hill.

Reaching the Queen of Hills – Getting to Mussoorie

Reaching this most important hill resort in Uttaranchal is not a difficult task. The nearest airport is at Jolly Grant in Dehradun (34 kms) away. From the Jolly Grant airport, taxis and buses ply to Dehradun, from where they go up to Mussoorie. As far as railways is concerned overnight Mussoorie Express links Delhi to Dehradun, the nearest railhead for Mussoorie.
To come to Mussoorie via roads one can begin from Delhi which is at a distance of 325 kms. There are direct buses from Delhi to Mussoorie, along with private taxis. Buses ply every half hour from Dehradun to Mussoorie. Private taxis and shared taxis are favored by a majority of visitors. NH 58 and NH 72A are the national highways that link Mussoorie to rest of the country.
